Augmentation mammoplasty (breast augmentation, breast prosthesis, silicone breast aesthetics) surgery; restores small volume breasts or loss of volume after pregnancy and breastfeeding and increases your self-confidence. Postpartum breast shrinkage, sagging, and loosening will recover. The asymmetry between the two breasts becomes even. Breast deformities are eliminated. Breast augmentation surgery aims to provide a natural look as much as possible by considering your requests. Breast augmentation is provided by inserting silicone, called a prosthesis, under the muscle. The majority of patients focused only on enlarging their breasts. However, other factors will affect the result other than size such as the shape of the breasts, their dimensions, skin quality, the amount of subcutaneous adipose tissue, the location of the nipple, the size and shape of the rib cage. In other words, the method required for each patient is different, the silicon breast prosthesis size or surgical method that is applicable for another may not be suitable for you. Silicone prosthesis fills the breast skin but cannot lift a sagging breast. In some cases, such as sagging breast tissue, breast augmentation surgery should be performed together with breast lift surgery. The recovery process after breast augmentation is generally not very difficult. Although some patients return to work after a few days, we recommend rest for one week. After the surgery, you can do light physical activities and carry your baby. You can return to most of your normal activities after 2 weeks and 4 weeks later for sports activities that will increase your heart rate and blood pressure.
Frequently asked questions about breast augmentation surgery::
What is silicone??
The size range of silicone differs between 100cc and 800cc. There is two kind silicone surface structure: smooth or rough. Anatomical, drop, or round-shaped silicone is available.
Surgery age?
Breast aesthetic surgery is recommended for patients aged 18 or older when breast tissue development is completed. However, in special cases, breast aesthetics can be performed at an earlier age.
Is it safe?
No relationship has been found between silicon and cancer or other immune system diseases in studies conducted so far. However, in recent years, cases of tumors arising from the immune system originating from the capsule development around breast silicone have been reported. This tumor, which is named Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (ALCL), is not breast cancer, it is caused by the capsule that develops around the silicone. Its incidence is approximately one in three hundred thousand. This very rare tumor is generally slow and has a good prognosis. On early detection, it can be successfully treated surgically by removing the silicone and surrounding capsule. Regular clinical and radiologic check-ups of the breast should be done before and after the operation. In cases of occurrence such as pain, bulk, swelling, fluid sensation, asymmetry, and deformity in the breast, the responsible doctor should be informed without wasting time. All ALCL cases that were diagnosed early and received the correct treatment have recovered.
Recovery time?
During the operation, we apply a nerve block and also wash the silicone pocket with a special pain reliever solution. In this way, the post-operation period is very comfortable. The incision site is as a red line in the first months. Then, within 6 months and a year, it fades and reaches the skin color, and becomes invisible. You can take a shower one day after the operation. The patient even can drive if feels well. In the first few weeks after surgery, the breasts appear slightly larger due to edema and swelling. Usually, edema and swelling disappear within 1 month and breasts come to normal sizes.
